MOSCOW: Russia’s first moon mission in 47 years failed after its Luna-25 spacecraft spun uncontrolled and smashed into the moon.
Russia’s state house company, Roskosmos, mentioned it had misplaced contact with the craft shortly after an issue occurred because the craft was shunted into pre-landing orbit on Saturday.
“The equipment moved into an unpredictable orbit and ceased to exist because of a collision with the floor of the Moon,” Roskosmos mentioned in a press release.
